Anon is on (but screened) and IP logging is off. Constructive criticism and general comments both welcome.

Peter does sometimes commit acts of verbal sexual harassment toward other characters. If you are not comfortable playing that, please leave a comment here and let me know whether you would like me to avoid having him do that in threads with your character(s) or if you would like to opt out of interacting with him entirely.

Decent guy, tried to be helpful on the first night. Kept going on about how much Zephyr "cares" about us, like it matters. Not sure what his handwriting looks like.

Kind of an idiot, but at least he's not an arsehole like the rest of them. Weird, though. Came here from a video game and lives with a bunch of giant talking bees. Don't touch his whangee (lol but no really). Not hard to recognize on the bulletin board.

Too busy running to get to know much about her. Didn't even get a good look at her because of the light. Don't know about handwriting.

Half-demon, claims he was born that way. Met him on the first night by the hedge; decent sort of person despite appearances. Says he can't remember how long he's been here. Not sure what his handwriting looks like.

Wanders around in the dark shooting at deer. Apologized for it afterward on the bulletin board, but who fucking does that? Could probably recognize his handwriting on the bulletin board.

Lives near the bulletin board, probably a troll, near-incomprehensible writing pattern. Do not engage!! Fuck knows what he looks like.

Saw him in the woods one night, but all he saw was a deer. Don't know what his handwriting looks like.

Fucking psychopath with some kind of throwing knives. Likes to throw people into the hedge. Bertie says it's because he lost his wife, but fuck him. Fuck this guy altogether. Not sure what his handwriting looks like.

Bit naive, hell of a lot easier to deal with than the rest of them. Believes (believed?) in Pan and in Pan's talking deer friend. Would probably recognize her handwriting.

Giant fucking ogre that goes around disguised as a human woman and flashes lights in people's eyes. Not sure what her handwriting looks like.

Vampire. Keep an eye out for this one. Know her handwriting from shredding her note to Pan.

Real dick on the first night, but significantly less awful than the others later. Probably makes decent muffins (fuck knows). Easy to recognize on the bulletin board.

Met him in the god classroom; he claimed he was from some fake-sounding city in a weirdo version of Nevada. Around Christmas he pulled a weird prank where he pretended to be a scythe; not sure what that was about. Not sure what his handwriting looks like.

Claims to own the forest. Claims to be a god. Claims a lot of shit. Didn't fall for the Pan thing; did drop out of a tree and attack out of fucking nowhere. Not sure what her handwriting looks like.

One of the trolls, met her on the first night. Real Stockholm syndrome case, acts like we're somehow lucky to be here. Completely fucking unsympathetic. Not sure what her handwriting looks like.

The god of the Meadous. Supposedly a child using this place and the people in it for practice. Real spiteful little shit.

Nice kid with a weirdly big vocabulary (it's weird at that age, right?). Only ever saw her in the god classroom; not sure where she lives. Sounds like she's the only kid here other than the godling. Does not seem to write on bulletin board?

Nice guy, but too curious for his own good. Lives with someone named Ucchii. Met him on the first night but can't seem to find his house again. Not sure what his handwriting looks like.

Game Summary:
Ryslig is a panfandom game with a focus on transformation and body horror. Characters wash up from the ocean onto the Ryslig Peninsula, an alternate universe world with technology that corresponds roughly to the 1950s, and begin turning into monsters about two months after their arrival (the first wave of arrivals began their transformations after only one month; complete transformations take up to four months to finish). There are three gods known to the locals. The day god and the night god are forces for good that (according to tradition) work together against the devil-like fog god. While the day and night gods don't seem to be active forces in the lives of those on the peninsula, the fog god appears to be responsible for bringing the PCs to Ryslig and can also be inferred to be responsible for their transformations. Its powers are linked to the thick fog that rolls in off the sea at irregular intervals; it's during fog times that new characters arrive, transformations intensify, and other supernatural events occur. The fog god brought the characters to the peninsula for the purpose of killing a fourth god whose identity is unknown but who has communicated to the player characters via their network devices. The unknown god and the fog god vie for the loyalty of the player characters, each god pushing the characters to kill the other.

History of Character in their Game:
Peter arrived in the city of Vandare with the first group of newcomers to be fished out of the ocean covered in injuries and lacking any memory of how they had come to a strange land. At that time, none of the newcomers knew what was to become of them. They knew only that the people of Vandare had never heard of the places from which they had come, and vice versa. Peter, suffering from alcohol withdrawal, threw himself on the mercy of the church of the Day God, and was able to get housing, clothing, and a little bit of money until he was able to start supporting himself by performing magic and knife-throwing in various bars and clubs. He grudgingly became friends (ish) with several other newcomers (including Dr. McCoy, Ginko, Flash, Jeff, and Heather) despite their mad claims about the worlds from which they came, and spent much of his time (when not aggravating various other newcomers) researching the history (supernatural and otherwise) of the local culture in search of clues as to how and why they had been brought to the place. Sinister events began to occur; a supernatural fog caused all of the locals to fall unconscious in the streets for three days on end, and the mayor of Vandare sent a large number of the newcomers into the woods on what was later revealed to be an impossible mission (and likely a suicide mission), where some of them encountered a creature with the head of a horse who called himself Tikbalang. Peter had been too much of a coward had the sense to remain in town, but heard about what happened in the woods from multiple sources. It was at this time that he and Ginko began to suspect that the newcomers were under some kind of spell or curse put on them by the Fog God.

When the fog returned later that month, Peter was one of many newcomers to begin a painful, horrifying transformation. His eye teeth fell out to be replaced by fangs, his heart stopped, and he gained a painful sensitivity to daylight and a ravenous craving for meat. Fearing that he was becoming a vampire despite the odd symptom out, Peter threw himself into further research and began questioning other newcomers to learn more about what they were becoming and why. Unable to find an answer, he allowed himself to be distracted by the opening of the neighboring city of Bavan to newcomers, and was soon disabused of his vampire theory when he abruptly grew a pair of antlers.

Peter returned to Vandare when news hit that another batch of newcomers had been pulled out of the ocean. The trip was largely fruitless; while he met a number of new people as diverse as the group with which he had arrived, Peter didn't learn anything of particular use. The fog came in again and any hope Peter might have had of passing for human (had he gotten rid of the antlers) vanished when he underwent a final transformation into a wendigo. After feeding on human flesh from the graveyard, he ran away from the city and spent a week in the woods living as a feral creature and eating various woodland animals. He returned in time for a local, Doctor Zaroff Rainsford, to invite the transformed newcomers to his island facilities, where he promised to attempt to help them. Unfortunately for the newcomers, Rainsford was actually a mad worshipper of the Fog God. After running a number of medical tests on the newcomers and giving them a (drugged) dinner and a comfortable place to sleep, he and his employees moved the various monsters who had accepted his invitation to a labyrinthine system of caverns below his home. The group with whom Peter awoke succeeded in killing one of Rainsford's hunters, but when they encountered Rainsford himself, the doctor killed Peter with a silver bullet.*

Peter reappeared in Vandare with no explanation as to how or why he had come back to life and been transported back to the mainland just as festivities began for a feast day devoted to the Fog God. During the holiday, Peter became trapped in a hitherto unknown underground realm of the fourth, unknown god, who commanded each newcomer who arrived in it to pledge themselves to him by spilling blood. Peter instead attempted to rescue the locals trapped down there with the various monsters, only for a shade named Sandrath to trick him into accidentally injuring one of said locals, thereby unwillingly pledging himself to the unknown god. Having lost all the resources previously available to him apart from his network communication device, and having become impervious to cold and endlessly hungry, Peter lived as a homeless scavenger once he was released back to the surface world, holing up wherever he could during the day and roaming Vandare at night in search of food. At this time he began to eat out of the garbage on a regular basis, though his cravings for human flesh became continually sharper. When a strange old man offered to trade him a pickled human hand (two hands, when Peter pushed back) for his antlers, Peter leaped on the opportunity to sate his cravings without resorting to murder despite the implications regarding the fates of the hands' previous owners, and allowed the man to saw his antlers off.

Though he knew it was the Fog God that had transformed him, Peter's pledge to the unknown god (who was revealed to be a former human named Elias) filled him with resentment, and he began plotting (albeit not very coherently) to attempt to kill both gods. When the opportunity arose to either kill Elias or to free him from where he was imprisoned and unleash his full power, Peter ventured into the underground labyrinth where the god was being kept with the intention of killing him before he could be freed. He encountered a shade named Stocke; while Stocke was also unwilling to set Elias free, he refused to allow Peter to attempt to kill him. Peter was last seen trapped in a hallucinatory post-apocalyptic version of Las Vegas.
How did they change from their canon personality wise (Please explain what caused it to happen?)
Peter was always full of self loathing, but it used to be balanced out, in a way, by his narcissism. While he's still very self-centered, he no longer has his pride and is revolted by the flesh-eating thing he has become. He remains mostly unwilling to hurt others and more or less compelled to defend the helpless when push comes to shove, but has eaten human flesh on multiple occasions, even when it very likely came from a murder victim. He's become a more desperate person in general, willing to do what it takes to survive even when it means eating out of the garbage or deliberately failing to question where his human-based food came from. His half-baked scheme to kill Elias, too, was a case of hopelessly lashing out at a being that (while likely evil) ultimately was not responsible for Peter's suffering.

How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):
Peter started the game as a human man, but by the end of his tenure had become a wendigo thanks to a curse laid on him (as with all the newcomers) by the Fog God. He is an undead creature, half man and half deer, with antlers, fangs, claws, and insatiable hunger (meat is the only food he is willing and able to eat). He must eat human flesh on at least a monthly basis or risk going mad and attacking the first person he sees. He is extremely sensitive to light and heat (too much time spent in a warm place will cause an outbreak of necrotic flesh). Prior to his entry to the Meadous, his antlers have been sawed off. Full information on transformation and powers.
Powers:
Peter is completely impervious to the cold, and has very keen animal senses. He also possesses the ability to transform into a fallow deer at will, though his clothes don't transform with him.
Possessions:
Peter owns a purse messenger bag with a defunct rsdos (a sort of laptop/network device) inside, and the tattered clothes on his back.

Please provide three samples from your previous game, at least one will have to be third person with context:
Sample One: if youre really a vampire why would you want to HELP us? (Network)
Sample Two: "I didn't stop to grab my wallet when I grew hooves and ran off into the night, sorry." (Log)
Sample Three: I can tell you what you've got -- a wendigo who isn't eating you. Yet." (Log)

Notes: Anything else?
*Peter's death was planned and then handwaved due to his assigned group and the event-runner being unable to tag the thread to completion.

July 24, 2014:
Welcome Wagon Event
The newcomers arrive in Vandare just in time for the ocean festival. Each is fished out of the ocean with unexplained injuries and no memory of how they got in the water, and emerge from the hospital to find themselves in a strange land.
  • Leonard McCoy encounters Peter (who is suffering withdrawal symptoms) soon after their arrival in Vandare and is unimpressed with Peter's theory that they've been kidnapped for a reality TV show. Peter is unimpressed with McCoy's claim that he's from the future.
  • Peter's threadstarter, in which he is in withdrawal, in need of trousers, and already reduced to begging.
    • Une points Peter toward the resources offered by the church after he asks her for money and is exceptionally rude to her.
    • Jeff and Peter go to a church and procure fresh clothing, which is important because Peter's crotch is chafed.
    • The Flash discusses arrival theories with Peter, including the possibility of supervillain involvement.
    • Sei offers Peter charity and acceptance, and it increases Peter's self loathing.
  • Megatron runs into Peter and is generally scary.
August 7-9, 2014: The Fog Arrives
The fog rolls in and the locals are put into a cursed sleep state.
  • Legolas helps Peter move an unconscious child out of the street after Peter steps on the kid by accident.
  • Peter's threadstarter, which reveals that he's been scraping by on busking in a bar, and that he's been moving the unconscious people to safer positions since the fog started and more or less watching out against anyone trying to hurt them.
    • The Nogitsune stops to talk to a drunk Peter after killing a woman. Peter lets slip that he's hunted vampires, and the Nogitsune lets slip that murders have occurred out in the fog.
    • Beth finds Peter drunk in the fog, and Peter takes umbrage at the suggestion that he's had too much to drink, then laments her failure to recognize him for the C-list celebrity he is.
  • Robert Lutece finds a drunk Peter talking to an unconscious teenager he dragged out of the gutter. After Peter mentions someone else having talked about alternate realities, Lutece promises him booze in exchange for that person's name if and when he learns it.
  • Link ransacks Peter's room in search of a sword. Peter fails to provide a hook for the sword obtainment quest.
August 13, 2014: Open post by Gold
After the fog clears, Gold can be found getting kicked out of a bar for hustling at billiards.
  • Peter competes with Gold to see which is less mature.
August 17: name your poison (McCoy's open post)
Following the fog, McCoy is badly in need of a drink...and of a drinking buddy.
  • Peter shows Bones a magic trick. Bones is unimpressed but buys him a drink.
August 24: The Sane Man's Way (Peter's open post)
Peter opts not to go into the woods in search of the missing loggers, because he doesn't like nature and the whole thing smacks of danger. He stays in town and gets some throwing knives, and after some practice he's able to arrange regular performances at various bars and clubs around town. In the daytime, he puts in time at the library to learn more about the region's religious history.
  • Ginko is also doing some research in the library. Peter informs him about the murders during the fog (it's revealed that he saw the body of the woman the Nogitsune killed), and Ginko tells him what happened in the clearing in the woods. They discuss the source of the fog's effects, and Peter proposes learning more about the Fog God in order to find a way to appease it.
  • Flash (who has one arm in a sling after a scuffle in the fog) encounters Peter during throwing practice, and they talk about Peter's professional life.
  • Heather is largely unimpressed with Peter's show but wants to know more about knife-throwing. She gets past his guard, and they commiserate about fighting monsters back home.
  • Jeff comes back from the woods worse for wear and runs into Peter in a bar. He tells Peter about what happened in the woods, including the fact that the loggers have been missing for three years and the whole thing was clearly a setup.
August 25: 001 - ^J for help (Network)
Sasuke makes a test post to the network.
  • Peter butts in with a display of how bad he is at using the network.
August 26: 001 @Lithuania (Network)
Lithuania explains what happened in the forest with Tikbalang, including Tikbalang's revelation tat the newcomers have been "poisoned" and that both the Fog God and an unknown malevolent god have vested interests in them.

Sasha asks where she can get some food.
  • Peter gets hyper-possessive over food she was in no way about to take from him.
August 28-30: Monsters Transform!
The fog arrives, and the first round of monstrous changes begin.
  • Rosalind Lutece can see heat signatures, and can tell that Peter's heart is stopped and his body is cool. This is news to Peter (he'd only noticed his elongated canines). Peter is freaked out by her and runs off.
  • Flash has grown bat wings and Peter is really freaked out by that. Peter is also freaked out and confused by the revelation that Flash was once possessed by a demon-symbiote-thing.
  • Xion eats the bun off the sausage Peter bought from a street vendor (though he's ravenously hungry, Peter is unable to stomach anything other than meat).
  • Peter's threadstarter, in which he flubs a show because he's so distracted by insatiable hunger, spends the last of his money in a diner and finds himself unable to eat anything but the hamburger patty, loses his old eye teeth, and finally has a long and painful day in which he unknowingly dies and becomes undead, then goes out on the town begging for scraps.
    • Magnus gives Peter a sandwich, and their conversation feeds Peter's fear that he's becoming a vampire.
    • Sai meets Peter in a diner and eats Peter's fries.
    • Jeff takes Peter back to his apartment and gives him a sandwich; Jeff is now unable to eat and has glowing yellow eyes athat are extremely sensitive to light.

  • Peter reacts with fear and prejudice, and Fenrich threatens to kill him.
September 1: frightnight (Network)
Peter obliquely asks the network whether anyone else is turning into a vampire, and tries to figure out whether anyone's changes were catalyzed by a bite from a supernatural creature.
  • Tron is getting hairy and has a problem with sunlight. Also, he doesn't understand masturbation jokes.
  • Okumura Rin tries to feel out Peter's knowledge on the subject, but Peter has no patience for him.
  • Lenus Grey gets tired in sunlight.
  • Kise Ryouta points out that the changes started with the latest fog, but Peter points out that it also happened right after a bunch of people went into the woods. Then Kise pushes Peter to explain what he thinks is happening, and Peter suggests it's either a spell from the Fog God or they've been bitten by creatures of the night.
  • Jeff discusses the logical issues with the monster transformations, and Peter pops out the theory thta the monsters they're becoming are the Fog God's idea of what those monsters would be, rather than the real thing.
  • Lydia Martin is not becoming a vampire, and has serious doubts about the bite theory. This thread includes the phrase, "you know what it's not my job to convince you some vampire came up and bit you on the ass"
  • Edgeworth is actually becoming a vampire despite not believing in them.
September 1: [001 - thegreatgold] (Network)
Gold can't deal with this friggin' sunlight.
  • Peter suggests the possibility of actually being killed by sunlight, and asks insensitive questions. For science.

CURRENT APPEARANCE:
Peter could not possibly be mistaken for human even at a brief glance. Aside from being deathly thin, he has the antlers of a fallow deer, though not a particularly impressive set as far as that species goes, digitigrade legs ending in hooves, and a long tail. His fingernails have become black claws, both his upper and lower canines have been replaced by fangs, and his ears are those of a deer. The skin of his face has the pallor of the undead, and much of the rest of him (face and belly excluded) is covered by short brown fur in a dark shade that matches his original hair, broken up by white spots. The hair is longer on his back, where the hair on his head continues down his spine as a mane, as well as on his tail. He smells kind of gross, what with being dead and all; the scent is stronger when he is in a warm place.

ABILITIES AND VULNERABILITIES:
Peter has very keen night vision and directional hearing. His extreme sensitivity to light makes him very unlikely to venture out during the day; even with sunglasses he finds sunlight not just painfully but blindingly bright. He is immune to the cold, and indeed feels most comfortable at low temperatures. Fire will hurt him badly, but even being exposed to high temperatures within human tolerances for too long will cause patches of necrotic flesh to break out across his body that heal slowly once he's returned to cooler temperatures.

Peter can turn into a fallow deer at will, but his clothes do not transform with him.

CYCLICAL CHANGES:
Peter will shed his antlers in February and September; the new antlers will begin growing within days and will always take one month to grow in. They grow in much the same manner as a real deer's antlers, though faster. While growing, they are somewhat spongy, particularly at the tips, and remain covered in velvet, which he sheds at the end of the month's growth.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Peter Vincent
Age: 39
Canon: Fright Night (2011)
Canon Point: Post-movie
Character Information:
This wiki entry summarizes his lifestyle and what is known about his pre-movie history pretty well, but gets excessively detailed about everything he does in the film starting three paragraphs into the 'History' section. A briefer summary of his role in the movie:

Peter meets a teenager named Charley Brewster with a vampire problem and initially writes him off as a nutter. When faced with evidence that the kid is telling the truth, Peter's conscience gets the better of him and he invites Charley (and Charley's girlfriend Amy) to his penthouse to offer them information (though he explicitly refuses to help beyond that before they can even ask). He then inadvertently invites a vampire into his own penthouse because he is dumb, and his assistant/live-in frenemy with benefits, Ginger, is killed as a result.

Charley returns from a night of running away from vampires and losing his girlfriend to same to find Peter packing up to go on the run, at which time Peter reveals the whole orphaned by vampire attack thing. Rather than flee, though, Peter eventually decides to join Charley on what is likely a suicide mission to kill the lead vampire, Jerry…who turns out to be the same vampire that killed Peter's parents. The two succeed in killing Jerry and returning the vampire's victims to humanity, with Peter mostly playing a supporting role. During the fight Peter is bitten and experiences a partial transformation, but he reverts once Jerry is dead. At the end of the movie, it appears that Peter is now friends with Charley and Amy, because a man near forty hanging out with teenagers is not so weird once they've survived a vampire attack together.

Personality:
Peter has lived most of his adult life in a state of denial. While he is aware that there was nothing he could do when a vampire killed both his parents when he was still a child, he has been haunted by survivor's guilt and feelings of weakness since then. He believes that the only reason he survived was because he "had the good sense to hide," but he is not proud of having survived, nor does he always feel that he should have survived. The adults responsible for his care wrote his story off as a child's attempt to cope with reality by inventing a fantasy version of events, and Peter eventually buried the memory as best he could and did his best to believe that they were right.

For all that he attempted to distance himself from the reality of the vampire attack, however, Peter has held a lifelong obsession with the occult. He has poured vast amounts of time and money into his efforts to educate himself on matters supernatural and to build a large collection of relevant weapons and artifacts; while his efforts appeared on the surface (and he could almost convince himself really were) down to a desire to create a certain image of himself for public consumption, he knew on some level that he was preparing to defend himself from further attacks. As for insisting that his penthouse come equipped with a panic room, well, that could be explained away as defense against robbers and insane fans, couldn't it? His other main focus is stage magic; he is an accomplished illusionist (though likely not a particularly innovative one). He is the creator of a stage show hosted by the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel, in which he stars as a leather-clad vampire slayer (and that's clearly not the slightest bit Freudian). In other words, he's built his career on making a farce of his own childhood trauma.

Peter vastly overcompensates for his fear and self-hatred. Vanity is a major force in his life; he enjoys the fact that scholars consult him regarding the supernatural and he has a fake honorary college diploma hanging on the wall of his penthouse. If he has any body shame it is yet to be discovered; he shows no compunctions about wandering around the penthouse in an open robe and underpants when he invites Charley and Amy up to try to help them. While the persona he tries to present in his stage shows and in the media is that of a sensitive artist (the film's special features include an in-character TV spot in which he spews pretentious bullshit for several minutes), in person he is highly abrasive and self-important. He throws hissy fits whenever things go wrong in rehearsals, makes sexually aggressive remarks to journalists (or, in Charleys case, high schoolers disguised as journalists), calls the woman with whom he has a pseudo-romantic relationship by terms like "you lazy cow" (fortunately she doesn't take him anywhere near as seriously as he takes himself), and generally takes out every one of his frustrations on other people. At home he can more or less get away with all of this this because of his money and fame; adjusting to a more humble station in life will be a struggle for him.

Peter thinks he likes the finer things in life, but he suffers from a general lack of taste. His penthouse is "gothic" in style, meaning everything is very black and shiny, and one end of his living room is devoted to an enormous, well-stocked bar. As many options as he keeps on hand, he mostly drinks Midori…and he drinks it straight. He has a high tolerance for alcohol, seeing as he drinks quite a lot of it; he's rarely drunk but he's very frequently tipsy. Peter would not classify himself as an alcoholic, but he would be wrong.

The events of the movie have somewhat mellowed Peter and smoothed out some of his many bad traits, though it is likely he will largely revert to being an asshole upon being dumped into a horrible alternate universe. Jerry's death brought him closure as well as two actual friends in Charley and Amy, but Ginger's death remains a tragedy for which he has no choice but to blame himself (the parallels to his parents' death particularly haunt him, as both times Peter ran and hid while someone he loved got killed). He at least no longer needs to hide the truth about his past from himself, but memories of violent deaths in the family and a lifetime of semi-self-imposed emotional isolation are not things that ever really go away. Peter discovered courage he never knew he had when he stormed Jerry's basement with Charley--having finally faced his personal (and literal) demon, he is no longer ashamed to be alive. That's not to say he wants to make a habit of fighting monsters. Peter is not a skilled fighter and is very keenly aware that he survived the fight through luck and Charley's ingenuity rather than his own abilities. He is still afraid of vampires and other monsters and will continue to prefer flight over fight.

Abilities:
Peter is a stage magician by trade; while his work isn't exactly revolutionary, he's an experienced performer capable of turning out convincing illusions. When in stage mode, Peter is suave, confident, and sexy (his show, like so many Vegas shows, was sold largely on sex appeal). The apparently obvious falsity of his stage persona, a vampire hunter, conceals the truth: that Peter is actually one of the world's foremost experts on the supernatural. In the past, he has received (and, because it strokes his ego, granted) requests from scholars and academics for information and access to his carefully gathered collection of artifacts (his less-than-carefully gathered eBay purchases, on the other hand...not so much). Peter may not be the brightest crayon in the box (a fact which probably isn't helped by his drinking), but he knows his subject as only an obsessive can.

Soon after his arrival through the rift, Peter discovered he had gained the ability to teleport himself. It's a very ostentatious power; wherever he appears, he appears in a quick burst of flame and smoke (fortunately, he has yet to burn any buildings down by teleporting into them). Whether by inherent weakness or lack of self-control, Peter is absolutely pants at controlling his power. He generally won't teleport entirely without meaning to, but he quite frequently misses his mark by...well, a lot. He's not quite sure how far he can go, as he's never had a successful long-distance jump, but he once made it about a block and a half. Anything tied to him or anyone with a grip on him is transported along with him if he tries to teleport, but he's unable to teleport while carrying anything larger than one other person. If he tries to drag along anything larger than that, he snaps back to his starting position.

Appearance:
Tall and thin with shaggy brown hair, Peter generally walks with a self-assured swagger. He favors dark, tight-fitting clothing and leather jackets and coats, and he's no stranger to eyeliner...but he's not unaware of how to dress in order to blend in with the general public. His native Scottish accent has been softened by frequent international travel, so that he now sounds only vaguely British, and his speech is riddled with coarse language (and coarse subjects) at nearly all times.

Personality:
Peter has been haunted by survivor's guilt and his own feelings of weakness since the vampire attack that killed his parents in his childhood. He tells himself (and others) that he's a survivor, not a coward--he knows, on a practical level, that hiding was the only intelligent thing he could do while his parents were being murdered, but still hates himself for having been too frightened, too young, and too powerless to do anything against the creature that destroyed his family. Much of his adult life has been spent overcompensating by making something of a joke (and an extravagant living) out of his deepest fears; by slaying vampires night after night onstage, he could almost convince himself of his own power and control.

Though he might come off to his more impressionable fans as an artistic heartthrob, his frequent hissy fits and tantrums in rehearsals have made many people reluctant to work with him. He isn't much better at personal relationships, either; he's domineering and abrasive, seeming to demand that everyone around him either bend to his will or get out of the way. The only real relationship he's had in years was with Ginger, and her ability to mercilessly give back everything he dished out was probably what allowed them to connect at all; though unable to sustain a mutually supportive (or, well, healthy) relationship, he found caustic Ginger to be a steady, dependable presence in his life.

If Peter has any sort of shame about what others think of him--or about his body--it has yet to be discovered. He's brutally honest, at least when it comes to his assessments of other people, and has no problem at all with going about in little more than his underpants, regardless of who's there to see him. His self-loathing is matched only by his narcissism; after decades of emotional isolation, the vast majority of his attention (both positive and negative) is turned inward. While he's not constantly drunk, a day never goes by in which he remains entirely sober, either. His taste in drinks (Midori -- a neon green, tooth-rottingly sweet liqueur -- is a current favorite) bears out his overall lack of taste in general.

Perhaps understandably, Peter harbors deep distrust of anyone who isn't entirely human. He might express derision or disgust at such a person, but that behavior is driven mostly by fear.

History:
When Peter Vincent was a nine years old, he heard the sounds of his parents being killed. The creature had come to their home in the guise of a man--in later years, when he realized that it must have happened, he could never remember what made them invite the monster in. Mostly he remembered running and hiding, and the certainty that he was about to die.

After that came foster care. Without family members both willing and able to take him in, Peter was shuttled off to a group home and, several years later, down south to the home of a surprisingly patient pair of foster parents in England. By then his obsession with the occult had taken hold; by the time he came of age, he'd already begun amassing knowledge and collecting what few artifacts he could afford (all, he later learned, fake). A mixture of paranoia and denial drove his efforts, the desire to protect himself from a second attack mingling with the need to convince himself that the counselors and therapists were right and the first could never have happened. After school he left home, such as it was, and drifted throughout the country, supporting himself as a busker and continuing his study of the supernatural. He was fortunate enough to get signed on at a comedy and magic club, which was enough to give his career traction despite the negative reputation he quickly gained among stagehands and fellow performers. His popularity and his fortune grew, and in his late twenties he came to America on tour for the first--but nowhere near the last--time. His macabre performances and elaborate stunts proved irresistible to younger audiences in that country, and it wasn't many years more before he moved there on a more permanent basis. While on one of his tours, he became involved with a cast member named Ginger. To describe their relationship as 'romantic' would be somewhat inaccurate, but to describe it as what it might appear to have been--that is, enemies-with-benefits--would be too flippant a dismissal. When he relocated to Las Vegas for a semi-permanent show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Ginger moved into both the role of leading lady and into Peter's new penthouse. The pair fought constantly, but somehow the arrangement suited both of them.

2011 was the year when Peter's past came back not so much to haunt him as to steamroll right over the life he'd built for himself. A high schooler named Charley Brewster gained access to Peter's flat by posing as a reporter from the Las Vegas Sun; when the teenager stopped asking stilted questions about fact versus myth and began pushing photographs at Peter and tearfully begging him for help slaying a vampire named Jerry, Peter panicked, accused Charley of being a looney, and bravely ordered Ginger to escort him out. It was, of course, none of Peter's business. Odds were the teen was a looney, and even if he wasn't, it wasn't as if Peter could actually do anything about it. That was what he told himself, at any rate, right up until he gave in and looked at the photographs Charley had left him. Fortunately, Charley and his girlfriend, Amy, were still alive when Peter called them up. Unfortunately, Charley's newly undead best friend tracked him straight to Peter's front door, and gained entrance by posing as a delivery man. It wasn't until Peter had fled to his panic room and looked at the video feed of his flat that he realized Ginger--whom he'd sent to answer the door, calling her a lazy cow and giving her the finger along the way--was dead. Once again, Peter hid while vampires tore apart his home. This time, however, he was not the only survivor. Charley returned with the news that Amy had been taken, and that he intended to storm Jerry's suburban lair. Peter, who had already packed his bags, refused to go with him. Charley expressed disgust at Peter's pragmatism--or cowardice--saying he would rather be killed than become a man like Peter. When Peter saw that Charley couldn't be convinced to run away, he at least offered the teen the use of one of his relics, a stake blessed by Saint Michael purported to return humanity to the victims of any vampire it killed.

Stripped once again of his illusions of security, Peter almost convinced himself that he would do exactly as he'd said he would and disappear off the map in order to save his own neck. Instead, after contemplation aided by several healthy helpings of Midori, Peter abandoned his common sense, outfitted himself with all of his best eBay-bought weaponry, and intercepted Charley at Jerry's home. Together they infiltrated Jerry's basement lair, but were quickly outmatched. Jerry recognized Peter, both from the latter's well-publicized shows and from the night he killed Peter's parents. He mocked Peter ("You have your mother's eyes...and your father's aim") and casually set his vampire 'children' on him after shutting Charley in a room with the now-vampiric Amy. Charley escaped and came to Peter's rescue, ultimately lighting himself on fire and literally tying himself to Jerry in order to cause the vampire to panic and get an opening to stake him. True to the legend, the vampire's influence left all the people he and his minions had converted, including Peter, whose transformation had begun a few minutes earlier, after several of Jerry's offspring fed on him.

Though Peter ultimately played only a supporting role in killing Jerry, the death of the vampire brought him closure. He remained friends with Charley and Amy and, after an emotionally stunted period of mourning for Ginger, resumed his performances. His departure from Las Vegas came only when he was picked up by the rift and deposited in an alternate universe's version of Manhattan. With no money and no agent (apparently the Peter Vincent of this world, if he existed, was no celebrity magician), Peter reluctantly accepted the protection of the Rebels and the meager living quarters that came with it. He has lived in Manhattan for about a month now and is somewhat familiar with the overall situation. He has no interest in actually fighting alongside the Rebels; his goal, if he has one, is to escape Manhattan and/or to reestablish himself so he no longer has to live in a high-rise hovel.

Writing Sample:
The view from his apartment, Peter has decided, is shite. Everything about his apartment is shite, actually, from the dripping sink to the hand-me-down sofa. The people who gave it to him are shite, too; if they really wanted to help him, they'd've got him out of the city by now, not put him up in a place that looked like bedbug central, surrounded by a bunch of things they blindly insisted counted as people and, therefore, neighbors. Bad enough having neighbors at all without those neighbors being bug-eyed monsters and fuck knew what else. Peter had kept the door barricaded from day one.

His feelings on the matter are compounded today by the fact that his (shite, can't keep anything cold) refrigerator is empty. His inability (or refusal) to cook and his tendency to stock up on liqueurs instead of groceries mean that he's already spent his (shite!) little piddling allowance on takeaway and liquid comfort, all of which is gone now, leaving him sober and hungry until he can get another shitty little handout in a few days.

Knocking things over and complaining quite loudly to the empty room about all the idiot rebels who bloody well ought to know who he is and treat him a good deal better than this makes Peter feel a little bit better. It also drives home the fact that there's no room service to call, no personal assistants to drive to tears, and no Ginger to fix it for him. If he wants to eat (and, more particularly, drink), he's going to have to do something about it himself.

It doesn't take much to make a street show. Cards would be handy (if painfully cliche), but he doesn't have the money to buy any. He does have a coin or two left, though, which will do for a start.
